Welcome Back!
Hey Everyone!
Sorry for the delay in sending out the email this year. We have been extremely busy renovating the new dojo. We are sure that you are going to love our new space!
First off, our new location is 6543 Hart Highway. We are in the strip mall near the end between the Credit Union and the new restaurant, the Queen of Harts. I have included a picture of the new mat area. :)
We had a fantastic season last year! We promoted over 200 people to their next belt including two new black belts. Even Sensei received a new belt this year. Maegan won silver at the Canadian Championships in U16 and U18. Kimiko won bronze in Senior women. Our annual Tournament of Champions was a huge success and everyone braved the blizzard to attend. We expect that this year will be even better. Last year, we were only about 30 members short of being the biggest club in the province. This is our year to become the biggest in British Columbia.
If you are a returning member, you can register online with Judo BC/Canada. You should have received this information by email, but if you did not, contact sensei and he will resend it along with all the registration information. Our fees have gone up slightly this year because of the renovation and increased operating expenses.
Classes will resume the week of September 11. You will need to fill out a new pre-authorized payment form with new dates. Please put this in an envelope with your child’s name on it and bring it to the first class.
If your child was a Tiger last year, they will move to the Dragons or Samurai class this year depending on the year that they were born. Samurais can stay in the Samurai class or move to the Ninjas class. The Ninjas class is our pre-competitive class and is 30 mins longer. We expect the students to work hard in this class and attend a few out of town competitions.
You can choose what class works best for your schedule and send us an email with your child’s name and what class they will be attending. Sometimes, we have to ask a few to switch just to balance out the class sizes, but normally it works out okay.
Finally, if your child needs a new uniform (gi) we will be at the dojo September 5 and 7 from 6 to 8 pm.
We look forward to working with you and your family again this year. Please contact us at your convenience if you have any questions.
Thanks and have a GREAT day!!!
Sensei.
